Hatshepsut Temple

Hatshepsut a lady who ruled Egypt for more than 22 years you can visit her temple at the west bank of Luxor city; it’s a unique temple in its design which made it one of the most attracting places to visit. Most of the travel agencies put this temple along with Valley of the Kings as a classic tour.
This temple is the only terraces temple in Egypt, built from limestone and it was designed by senenmut the architect of King Hatshepsut king of Upper and Lower Egypt as she called herself.
She was the daughter of king Tutmosis 1st who had no sons from his main wife Ahmos nefrtary so in order to have a son he married a side wife and then he got his son Tutmosis 2nd who was married to Hatshepsut  to get the right to rule Egypt but he had no sons from her that’s why he also got a side wife then he had his son Tutmosis 3rd, who was 4 years old when his father died; and in order to claim the throne he had to marry the daughter of his step-mother and aunt Hatshepsut so she became also his mother-in-law.
Hatshepsut helped him to rule Egypt as he was a child but officially he was the king but she rules after a while she discovered that she can rule so why giving a child the throne of Egypt with help of the priests she sent him to Syria telling him that he'll go to learn the arts of war to become a great warrior. At this time she crowned herself as king of Egypt and built her funerary temple which is hugged by the mountain giving it a very beautiful look. More about Hatshepsut and the reliefs of her temple also what you are going to see inside; this will be told by your Egyptology guide if you book this excursion. Enjoy it
